Our Community Trade Programme
Did you know we pioneered fair trade in beauty in 1987 and today we have 26 Community Trade suppliers in 21 countries around the world, benefiting 25,000 people?
We source some of the finest raw ingredients and hand-crafted accessories from the four corners of the globe. We harness the skills of small-scale farmers, traditional artisans and rural-cooperatives who are experts in their field. We add our expertise to create effective products that are made with love and care.
We infuse our much-loved Tea Tree range with Community Trade tea tree oil from the Kenya Organic Oil Farmers Association (KOOFA), over 550 small-scale farmers around Mount Kenya National Park. Our products contain leaf essential oil, made with hand-harvested leaves that are gently steam-distilled. The oil from approximately 15,000 tea tree leaves goes into a 20ml bottle of Tea Tree Oil! Our trade helps provide the farmers with a steady income, which means that they can develop sustainable farming systems and fund community projects in their local area.
