Introducing Our Youth Collective Council

We’re bringing young people into our boardroom

In response to the need for greater representation and diversity of young voices in corporate decision-making, we have introduced our Youth Collective in India. The Youth Collective Council is our initiative and a program to include young people in our boardroom and incorporate their voices in business decisions.

YCC 2.0 which has been launched due to the success of our Youth Collective Council 1.0 launched in 2023. This initiative is designed to integrate young voices into our boardroom and impact our business decisions. YCC 1.0 insights led to concrete proposals across Youth Development, Environment, Inclusivity, and Gender Sensitivity.

We on boarded the 3 suggestive directions proposed by our previous members. These were successfully implemented across The Body Shop India:

  1. The phased introduction of braille in our stores – the program initiated on our 18th anniversary on June 2024 through our Activist Workshop stores
  2. We also prioritized gender inclusivity in our hiring, training, and management practices, ensuring that our head office and store staff embody these values
  3. Committed to utilizing authentic real-life gender inclusive heroes from diverse backgrounds in brand initiatives establishing inclusivity as the benchmark for the industry.

Following the remarkable success and effective implementation of this first edition, we are now excited to launch the second edition of the Youth Collective Council.

Young visionaries Aakash Ranison, Naman Sonpar, Anoushka Jolly and Dwishojoyee Banerjee joined The Body Shop India Youth Collective Council.

It’s Time to Start Listening to Young Voices

Our goal is clear: to amplify India’s emerging change-makers and involve them in building a sustainable, inclusive future.

Aakash’s climate advocacy and commitment to responsible travel inspire action. Naman’s work in cleaning and revitalising the Yamuna through Voicing the Yamuna is a model of environmental stewardship.

Anoushka’s Kavach App offers vital mental wellbeing support for adolescents, addressing climate anxiety head-on.

Dwishojoyee Banerjee, from The PaperBag Project to The Soft Movement, is leading the charge against single-use plastic.

How Will it Work?

This Youth Collective panel will offer feedback, ideas and strategic direction to The Body Shop in their respective fields. This diverse set of recognised young minds will support The Body Shop’s agenda of Youth Development, Environment, Inclusivity, and Gender Sensitivity. Each one of them will act as an advisor and work collectively to give perspectives to policy within The Body Shop India to nurture young people's outlook and the world they are looking to inherit.
